Totowa MMA: A look inside NJ United Mixed Martial Arts Academy

Striking Instructors

Chris Jones – Muay Thai Instructor – Professional MMA fighter

Chris has been training Muay Thai for the last 7 years under Tony Valera, a dedicated instructor who focuses on technique as well as conditioning. Chris delivers those same beliefs while training, fighting, and instructing. When Chris is not training, you can find him at his full time job as a Senior Field Service Tech in Radio Communications. Having experience in Electronics and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems compliments his daily routine.

As a professional Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai fighter he doesn’t alter his training for a particular opponent. He trains with the same heart, strength, and technical level each day. “You have to prepare yourself as if your opponent is the best out there. And you are going to take his place!” Muay Thai is his style of choice when entering the ring or cage, however Chris has no problem taking the fight to the ground. He holds the rank of Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, while having extensive knowledge of wrestling dating back to high school.

Pat Farrell – Boxing Coach – Professional Boxer

When not saving people’s lives from burning buildings working as a fireman in Jersey City, Pat is also one of the top boxers coming out of NJ.  Pat is a 2x NJ Golden Gloves Champion, winning the titles in 2007 and 2008, as well as becoming the NJ Diamond Gloves Champion in 2007. Pat has gone on to rack up 8 wins with only 2 losses as a professional, and he is ready to share his knowledge of the “sweet science” with the students at NJ United MMA. Pat ‘s classes are the perfect combination of technique, drills, and a great cardio workout.
