Grappling Tournaments in NJ | Greg J. Wins GOLD

NAGA: North American Championships

Last weekend NJ United Mixed Martial Arts student Greg J. brought home the championship belt from one of the toughest grappling tournaments in NJ. The North American Grapplers Association (NAGA) hosts events throughout the United States, drawing some of the most talented grapplers from the area to each event. Purple Belt Greg J. represented NJ United winning the Master’s Lightweight Expert division, a bracket that consisted of some very technical and experienced purple and brown belts from the NJ, NY, and PA area. Although Greg was one of the lightest competitors (156 lbs.) in the division (up to 175 lbs.) he showed that technique beats size and strength as he was able to control his opponents on his way to winning his first championship belt!

Greg J. is looking forward testing himself in December at the Grapplers Quest, another one of the toughest grappling tournaments in NJ. Check out Greg’s semi-final match and his sick armbar against a tough opponent from Pennsylvania.
