Congratulations to our NJ United Little Ninjas on their hard work for the month of September! Today, we had a fun-filled and energizing Friday class. Everyone showed great discipline and followed direction very well. Bryce, Sophia, Ella, Shane, Patrick, Jack, and Alex all received degrees on their white belts and are getting one step closer to receiving their first belt promotion. Each student has made great improvements since they started training and I have been very impressed with their progress.

Congratulations Chris Jones for receiving his Purple Belt last night at NJ United Mixed Martial Arts. Chris is a huge part of NJ United and has done extremely well competing in Grapplers Quest and NAGA tournaments. Chris is also a professional mixed martial arts fighter and runs our Muay Thai kickboxing program at NJ United MMA.

Congratulations to Danny Mulligan for receiving his Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at NJ United last week! Danny has put in his dues in competition and it is a pleasure to promote him to the faixa roxa (purple belt). Danny was a student of mine from when I was teaching in Hoboken, and came to Totowa to continue his jiu jitsu training. Congrats Danny!!!

Congratulations to Dominick Cruz and Mike Easton of Team Lloyd Irvin for their big wins Saturday night at UFC on Versus. Dominick Cruz successfully defended his UFC Bantamweight title against a very tough Demetrious Johnson. Cruz showed excellent wrestling and good jiu jitsu to win the unanimous decision.

Team Lloyd Irvin’s Mike Easton also won his UFC debut defeating Byron Bloodworth by TKO in the 2nd round! Mike started his training with Master Lloyd Irvin and came up through the ranks competing in jiu jitsu and MMA, earning the opportunity to fight in the UFC!

Congratulations to one of my instructors Jared Weiner for winning the Gold Medal today at the 2011 No Gi Pan Ams in New York City. Jared won a tough match against a very talented Joel Tudor in the finals!!!

This Saturday night’s UFC on Versus card looks to be very entertaining with plenty of exciting matchups. Our very own Team Lloyd Irvin’s Dominick Cruz will be facing Demetrious Johnson for Cruz’s UFC Bantamweight Title. Also on the card is Team Lloyd Irvin’s Mike Easton fighting Byron Bloodworth. Even though Bloodworth failed to make weight for the fight, Mike Easton is still stepping up and fighting. Mike started as a white belt training in Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts and has finally reached one of his goals of making it to the UFC. Mike and I received our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts from Master Lloyd Irvin on the same day at BJJ United in Jenkintown, PA!!! Enjoy the video….
