Congratulations to Chris Martinez for receiving his Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tonight from head instructor Jay Hayes. Chris has a well rounded game and is a complete martial artist, possessing solid skills in all aspects of fighting. 

Congratulations to Derek Havran, Corey Green, and George Geier for receiving their Purple Belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tonight from head instructor Jay Hayes.   Derek, Corey, and George have not only medaled in Grapplers Quest and NAGA tournaments, but they also are constantly helping every other student in the gym get better. They are a huge part of the friendly atmosphere that makes NJ United Mixed Martial Arts such an amazing place. 

Congratulations to everyone that competed at the 2011 Mundial World Championships from Team Lloyd Irvin!!!

JT Torres won the Bronze medal in the Black Belt leve division (regarded as the toughest division at the Worlds)
Jimmy Harbison won the Gold medal in the Brown Belt division
Nyjah Easton won the Silver medal in the women’s Black Belt division
DJ Jackson won the Gold medal in the Purple Belt division
Rachel Demara won Gold in Purple Belt in her weight and Silver in the absolute
Our good friend Dominyka Obelenyte also won the Gold medal in the women’s Purple Belt absolute and won the Silver in her weight class, losing only to Rachel from Team Lloyd Irvin. Congrats everyone!!!!

The Little Ninjas had a great class this morning!!! Then we had a killer Combat Gold Competition Team class right after. We had a wide variety of talent on the mats ranging from experienced white belts to black belts and Division 1 wrestlers!!! Feeling great after the workout!!!

Good luck to my friends and teammates competing at the 2011 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Mundial World Championships in California this weekend!!! Here is a highlight of Team Lloyd Irvin from last years championships…..

I am very happy with the progress everyone made during the month of May.  I think everyone has a pretty good understanding of how to escape the mount and the back from the repetition and drilling time we put in.  Defense is the foundation to everything that you will learn in jiu jitsu. The Muay Thai classes have also been packed, and classes continue to grow.  Think it’s time for a new, bigger gym?
