We had our NJ United Mixed Martial Arts UFC 153 Party at Tiff’s Restaurant in Pequannock Saturday night. We had an awesome turnout to watch some great fights and enjoy some excellent food. UFC 153 took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the birthplace of modern day MMA and of the wonderful art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. There were some great displays of BJJ as Team Lloyd Irvin’s very own Phil Davis submitted his opponent with a nice anaconda choke and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira submitted Dave Herman by arm bar in a fight in which Herman claimed that he could not be submitted and was immune to jiu jitsu. Nogueira proved him wrong and proved why Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is still one of the most important aspects of MMA.

Steve Ficca Wins Bronze at No Gi Pan Ams | Grappling Competition

Steve Ficca of NJ United Mixed Martial Arts submitting his opponent with a D’Arce Choke in the 2nd round of the of the 2012 IBJJF No Gi Pan Ams. Steve went on to win the Bronze medal against some of the toughest grappling competition in the country. The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation hosts the most prestigious grappling tournaments in the world along with the ADCC.
