Totowa MMA: A look inside NJ United Mixed Martial Arts Academy

Jiu Jitsu Competition

Here is a video of NJ United Mixed Martial Arts head instructor Jay Hayes competing in the absolute division at the 2009 Pan American No Gi Jiu Jitsu Championships. The absolute division allows competitors from all weight classes to compete against one another to determine who is the “absolute” champion.

In the first round Jay faced tough BJJ Black Belt Luis Pantoja and won by submission after leading on points 6-0. Jay went on to win the Bronze medal at the ’09 Pan American No Gi Jiu Jitsu Championships, being the lightest competitor to make it to the medal podium.
