GSP talks Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the Kimono
Watch this interview with UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre talking about the importance of training jiu jitsu and training with the kimono (also referred to as the “gi”).
There are alot of people who criticize training in the kimono because they say it doesn’t make you better at MMA. The real reason behind the criticism is these people don’t have the dedication or the skills to earn a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Don’t take my word for it, hear it from a guy who is arguably the best Mixed Martial Arts fighter in the world!!!
“I think the gi (kimono) is good because it makes you better at escapes and makes your game tighter. With the gi there is more technique, so your brain is working more, so you become a more quick thinker. Your timing is better. The one thing jiu jitsu teaches you over the years is to be humble….” – George St. Pierre (UFC welterweight world champion)
